Currently the recycling situation in the Highlands, specifically in the Inverness and Ross area is not as good as it should be.
The only recycling collection for businesses in Inverness by Highland Council is for cardboard. This is offered on a cost basis and if recycling is more expensive than landfill there is no incentive to do it. Some companies have policies on recycling and are part of national organisations which take waste back to a central point to be re-cycled. Others use private companies to collect their recycling. Others are not recycling at all, but most would like to.
Currently FOEIR is collecting information before launching a major campaign to improve recycling in the Inverness and Ross area.
